How do I set up Dreamweaver for FTP?

Your ColDen Communications account allows you to assign many ftp users to directories that you select.  The Main FTP User, who has the ability to set up these ftp users, comes with your account, and has the same username and password as your cPanel account.

For each additional ftp user you create in cPanel, you must enter their level of access by entering the directory they will be allowed to work with.  After this setup is done, the system will direct the new ftp user into his/her assigned directory with no need to enter the name of the Host Directory in Dreamweaver.

Here are the steps for FTPing with Dreamweaver for both types of ftp users:

a) Main cPanel/FTP user

Use these settings when connecting with the Main FTP User though Dreamweaver:

- Ftp Host : Use your domain name only, i.e., yourdomain.com, NO ftp:// etc.
- Host Directory : This should NOT be left blank;  Use '/public_html'
- Username : Your cPanel user (which is also your Main FTP User, i.e., you@yourdomain.com)
- Password : Your cPanel password

Important Note: Host Directory for the Main FTP User must be set to /public_html in your Dreamweaver, or the files will go to the wrong directory.

b) New/Additional FTP users

Use below settings when connecting using new/additional ftp users (e.g. unewftpuser@domain.com ) through Dreamweaver :

- Ftp Host : Use your domain name only, i.e., yourdomain.com, NO ftp:// etc.
- Host Directory : Leave this blank (system will automatically login to assigned directory)
- Username : newftpuser@domain.com
- Password : The password for this user you setup while creating it

Important Note : Leave Host Directory empty for additional/new users as the system will automatically login the user to the directory it was given access to when it was created.
